A.I. Makes Me Feel Like Less of a Writer
Earlier in the week, I used ChatGPT to aid my writing.
It wasn’t with the intention of writing everything for me, but in a moment of insecurity, wondered if the specific sentences in my work were clear, concise and overall effective.
On any other day, I wouldn’t find it bad to ask. After all, I’m aiming to have a polished piece that I am, at the very least, content with. However, I often feel like less of a writer using these A.I. tools.
Like, I should know how to do this without the technical help, right?
Even more so after taking a handful of English/writing courses during undergrad. I’ve certainly had moments like this prior to the arrival of ChatGPT or similar A.I. models, so perhaps might speak to my own confidence as a writer.
I’m sure even the likes of established writers like Hemingway, Bukowski or modern day creatives like Stephen King and David Sedaris to build some level of confidence or trust in themselves with what they put on the page.
I’m also of the belief that good writing isn’t without a couple quirks. It gives each of us character on the page. In the current state of A.I., it will be awhile until it can…
