Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 260: Gojo Satoru’s Return?
Coming close to death, The King of Curses sees the ghost of the unmistakable strongest sorcerer
The iconic Yuji-Todo duo has done it again. Bringing Ryomen Sukuna closer to death, the ghost of Gojo Satoru appears from the sidelines.
Could it be that the Six Eyes have returned or is Sukuna finally reaching the end of his tyranny?
The chapter was incredible.
That ending was extremely ambiguous and I can only say Gege Akutami’s pen work is nefarious. The fact we have to wait another week to get answers as to what’s happening sounds dreadful. Chapter 261 will be the most anticipated chapter yet and it’s not even close. Thankfully we’re not on break next week.
As expected, the conversation on this topic is divisive and people are theory-crafting mode as to what Sukuna is seeing. Some are overjoyed that their beloved Six Eyes has possibly returned, while others are doubtful, seeing the ghost to be nothing more than a fake-out. Another interesting theory is that it’s not actually Gojo but rather Yuta, due to both sharing cursed energy of a similar vibe.
Personally, I’m parading that he’s on the verge of death and the ghost conveys that — a metaphor of sorts. And from what it looks like, Sukuna is the only one sidetracked by this sudden appearance. We could make the case that Yuji is just dead set into tearing Sukuna apart so he couldn’t care less for much else, but it’s up for interpretation.
If we take what we learned from the previous chapter regarding resonance and making a deliberate decision to leave out certain plans to Yuj, then I can see how this could work. However, there’s just too many things that contradict that possibility.
Another belief is that Sukuna didn’t say Domain Expansion, despite doing the hand sign. It’s speculated that “Gojo” did and that’s what grabbed his attention.
I DON’T KNOW. IT’S A LOT TO PROCESS RIGHT NOW.
Gege really complicated the ending and it’s wicked.
If it weren’t for Yuji’s awakening, my thoughts would be a little different. He is shown having RCT, Blood Manipulation, and landing consecutive Black Flashes. With such promise, it’s only appropriate that the main character lands the final blow, brining an end to the King of Curses.
Everything with ghosts. This is not the first time Gege has used ghosts or illusions prior to a character’s death. Nanami comes to mind. In his final moments, he saw Haibara. So this might just be a similar case. I don’t really have much else on that.
If Gojo Satoru has actually returned to finish the job, I’ll gladly eat my words on everything I’ve said opposing it. Though, I’d expect Gege to give a really good explanation. The hottest theory within the fandom is that Gojo revives himself with a binding vow, sacrificing one of the Six Eyes.
Chapter 236 showed a Gojo who appeared generally content with his defeat aside from not being able to reach Sukuna. I sensed very few worries, yet so much faith in the ability of his students. And I’m sure (hoping) there will be one final flashback with him saying this directly.
Either way, this chapter was amazing. I seriously can’t wait for next week.
